All NEW Fertility patient initial appointments are done online with our founder & clinical director Dr Pentland. Navigate to the Vancouver location below and choose ‘Initial Reproductive Health Women’s Online Consult’ or ‘Initial Reproductive Health Men’s Online Consult’.
For all other NEW patient initial appointments (IVF, IUI, Pregnancy, General, ICBC) navigate to your preferred location below, and choose the appropriate appointment type. These are done in-clinic with the chosen practitioner.
For Dr Pentland’s Salt Spring Island private clinic patients only, choose the INITIAL TCM appointment [60 min], then book an available date/time. Additional information and online intake forms will be emailed to you shortly after.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a simple painless medical procedure. Peer-reviewed research on Acupuncture and reproductive health conditions state four potential physiological mechanisms for its positive effects:
HORMONES - Acupuncture may mediate the release of neurotransmitters and stimulate the release of gonadatropin releasing hormone, thereby influencing menstrual cycles, ovulation and fertility.
BLOOD CIRCULATION - Acupuncture may stimulate blood flow to the Uterus, inhibiting uterine central sympathetic nerve activity.
STRESS - Acupuncture may stimulate the production of endogenous opioids, which may inhibit the central nervous system outflow, increase serotonin levels, and regulate the biological stress response.
INFLAMMATION - Acupuncture may mediate the immune systems response to the implanting embryo resulting in higher implantation rates and reduced early pregnancy loss.
